Most of my work is invisible when it goes right: pipelines that don't fail, certificates that rotate themselves, a migration nobody noticed. The log is where I keep the receipts — what I built, and what broke.

Platform engineer, five years: CI/CD systems, internal tooling and provisioning automation that engineering teams adopt. C#, Python and TypeScript across Azure, OpenShift, Kubernetes and Terraform.

Experience

ExxonMobil

Budapest, Hungary

Enterprise Observability Engineer

Sep 2025Present
Built a ThousandEyes SDK automation framework that cut account migration from 3-4 days of manual work to ~3 hours, avoiding vendor professional-services cost; handed over to the MSP team.
Cut six-figure annual monitoring spend by removing underused synthetic capacity and redundant cloud network monitoring, with no loss of coverage.
Automated creation and management of the tests behind enterprise reliability dashboards, and extended monitoring to core DNS, DHCP and network services.
Led an OpenTelemetry collector proof of concept on AWS OpenShift (ROSA), subsequently adopted by internal application teams.

API Platform System Architect

May 2025Sep 2025
Architected a GitHub Actions v2 pipeline upgrade that eliminated recurring automation failures and improved release reliability across the platform.
Led DR planning, risk assessments and vulnerability assessment execution for a tier-1 API platform to ensure SLA compliance and audit readiness.
Migrated internal services from on-premise OpenShift to the managed OpenShift service, going first as the reference migration and writing the runbook consuming teams followed.

API Platform Senior Engineer

Dec 2023May 2025
Migrated 200+ API pipelines from Azure DevOps to a centralised GitHub Actions runner with zero downtime and zero config changes for consuming teams.
Designed the centralised trigger model behind that migration — one repository owning its runner and secrets — removing the need for ~200 per-team cloud app registrations.
Grew CI test coverage from 0% to 95%, eliminating critical regression bugs before production.

API Platform Engineer

Dec 2022Dec 2023
Built C# APIs automating cloud namespace provisioning and API gateway integration with consistent security policy enforcement.
Automated end-to-end TLS certificate rotation across 200+ OpenShift routes in three environments via Bash and the OpenShift CLI, reducing a full-day manual operation to under 30 minutes.

Productivity Solutions Developer

Aug 2021Dec 2022
Built and shipped 20+ custom workflow automations, reducing manual operational overhead by ~25% department-wide.

Day job's over. This half of the site is just me — born in Ulaanbaatar, studied in Debrecen, at home in Budapest, usually with something taken apart on the desk or a long anime arc running.

About the name

Tengis — Тэнгис — is Mongolian for sea, which is an odd thing to name a boy from a landlocked country. Hungarian tenger and Turkish deniz come from the same Proto-Turkic root, so the place I was born and the place I live now agree on what it means.

In a parallel universe

I was an on-set extra in the Halo TV series — a soldier of the planet Madrigal, year 2552, favourite food fire-grilled fire walrus. My character died bravely fighting aliens. My enthusiasm survived.
